Korea
(August 2004)| << My journey through Korea |
Last days in Seoul |
Next stop: Japan |
This train starts also very early and this time I chose the fast train saemaeul for the return to Seoul. This train was very full and I could not travel so comfortable like in the mugunghwa, because there I had 4 seats for my own :-)
At the train station I saw only one wagon with one tank. I was wondering why is there are only one. It looks as they forgot it :-) And near all the big cities I saw are the big suburban's with new buildings for the millions of people.
Seoul main train station is very modern and looks nice. You find all possible kinds of food there and I saw also bread, which looks like real German bread. I was really in temptation but what should I do with a whole big bread without good cheese and cold meat? And second: can I trust that it is real middle European bread? Because I saw often in foreign countries German bread but it was mostly like toast. I like a fresh baked, warm bread from wheat and rye with a crisp crust and soft (not like toast) inside. Also very delicious is black bread made from wholemeal. In Russia I ate very delicious black bread.
At the afternoon I relaxed a little in Seoul and at the evening I met some Germans in Seoul. During my research in the internet I met Katja who lives in Seoul for some months and works there. I met her and her co-workers near Itaewon street. There they invited me for the next evening for German party :-)
At noon I met my friend Sunny and we decided to make a boot trip on the Han river. We saw the big building at the first pic and decided to go upstairs and watch the city. It was really impressive. After the war they build a lot new modern houses in the big area Seoul. Berlin-Marzahn is nothing compared with this.
At the evening we went to the German Party in an Apartment where only Germans live in Seoul. At the subway station we meet some other people who helped us to find the way. Katja, Daniel and some other organized this party and it was really funny for me after two weeks to meet so many Germans at one place. And if some one speak to my I tried to guess where he or she come from Germany, because we have many dialects here. There was a barbecue at the balcony with Daniel as chief.
There was also an Ossi Sofa. What the hell is an Ossi??? Ossi is a short word for Ostdeutscher means people who comes from East Germany and the opposite is Wessi for West German. Some people in Germany use Ossi and Wessi not in a friendly manner but the most of us Germans joking with this attributes :-) So, I'm an old east German and I need to smily as I saw in Seoul an Ossi Sofa. :-) At the opposite of the room was the Knutsch (kiss) corner :-)
Later then we went dancing at Itaewon street and much more later I went home to my backpackers deluxe hostel and I enjoyed the silence at 3 in the morning.
It was also not bad that Min and I was scheduled for 1 o clock and so I could sleep enough :-) I suggested to visit the provincial park Namhansanseong. We went there by subway and it was a Sunday and many other Koreans where also there.
They did picnic or the kids played in the small summer river. Many people waited in a line to fill up fresh mineral water in big bottles or canisters. Min and I only filled up our bottles.
There was a place where people can go bar feet over different underground and this was really interesting. Some people say that every part of our bodies is connected to some parts of our feet. And I can say this is true for me. I felt different things in my body during I walked there.
There was also a nice temple, I forgot the name.
I try to camouflage me as an real Asian. I wear an Asian style shirt and also I
show the V-sign for a photo :-) Does it helps ???
I need to wake up very early. My flight started at 10 o'clock but the bus need time to the airport and you need to be min. one hour before you start there. I left Korea with a happy and crying face. Crying, because I had a really nice time there and I met some really good friends there and I don't know when I will meet them again. I hope next year or the year after. Happy because I fly to my Japanese friends and will meet them after two years again.
I want to say thank you to all my friends in Korea and I hope that I can show you one day Germany and / or Europe.
